I mentioned four political topics I cared about: 
Olbermann moving on.
The NH poll, where Romney clobbered the field and Ron Paul came in second.
The conservative split over gays among their ranks.
Bachmann going rogue.

So, with apologies for providing the opening for this thread to go off into snarkland, and for lumping them all in one thread, I'll comment on those.

Olbermann's departure seemed very sudden, but a Times article ([url]http://mediadecoder.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/01/22/olbermanns-msnbc-exit-was-weeks-in-the-making/?hp[/url]) says it was months in the making, and involves restrictions on his activities for some time, presumably in return for a nice payoff.  Comcast, which will be taking over NBC, claims they were not involved, but it seems to me that NBC officials might have been acting to make their new overlords happy even if said overlords never said a word.  What's your take?

It was expected that Romney would come in first, since he has had a high profile in NH since his Massachusetts days, but tripling the runner-up looks pretty good, especially since he's not highly regarded by the tea party, who won the top state party position.  But the full results ([url]http://politicalscoop.wmur.com/results-wmur-abc-news-nh-gop-2012-straw-poll[/url]) might be interpreted differently if all the tea party types were combined.  Any opinions?

I find it surprising that the conservatives don't all jump at the chance to show that they love all God's children who see the political light on the right, but I guess prejudice conquers all.  Am I showing my own prejudice?

Does Bachmann's move indicate that she sees herself more as tea party than Republican?[/quote]
