I agree with PP above that eating clean and cutting refined is good. But don’t pair that with lots of cardio. It’ll backfire because it’ll make you super hungry. I found success with weight loss around my middle by revamping my diet and just doing barre/walking for ‘cardio’ maybe three times a week. Nothing he’s or strenuous. It’s a more balanced approach. Exercise is important but it can be low intensity. Your body shape and weight is all diet for the most part. You can improve tone with weights.
Same here. I am a 37 yo apple shape. All my fat seems to go to mid section and upper arms. Targeted exercise and cardio is not necessarily bad but the key is that you need to lose weight and for me abs and cardio didn't work that well: - paying a lot of attention to my diet is what worked first. As PP above said, cardio can make you hungry. I started by a very clean full of veggies paleo /primal type of diet. Getting rid of fast carbs helped a lot with the bloating - with that I did mostly Pilates and barre to accompany the weight lost. Dual advantage : making sure I wouldn't lose all muscles while losing weight+ not too strenuous so I wouldn't be ravenous and add to the carb flu/carb detox difficulties - after 2-3 months of that I had lost the first 6-8 pounds i needed to feel better - then I started adding cardio and more weight training targeting the upper arms. That's when the more strenuous exercise regimen was most efficient because :1/ I wasn't hungry; 2/ I could see the muscles right away because I had lost enough weight. It was very motivating.. Now on maintenance I eat high GI carbs every 3 days at most (don't care for them anyway, just don't want to be anti social), and I have a nice balance of Pilates/weights and very gentle cardio
