Assuming your kid is actually more advanced in math than his classmates, why not speak to the teacher about differentation? Ask that your kid be given more advanced math work if he is ahead of his peers. Especially if the school is otherwise a great school. This keeps the bright kids in the classroom. Iron sharpens iron. White folks got it right. Keep your children in classrooms with kids who look like them and share your values, norms and mores. Black folks in Prince Georges have plenty of money. Keep it here. I completely agree with OP, especially the part in bold. The thing is, though, white people are thinking in the same way: that schools somehow make smart kids, and so anyone with a little money and resources (middle class blacks and whites) are running around chasing schools without actually investing in any of them because they think the school will make or break their child's success. The only thing that's happening is they are worsening all the local schools by congregating in the same few schools where all the other "chasers" are.

This is certainly not a PG county thing, but black middle class folks in PG are unwittingly copying what they see white middle class folks do and suffering much greater consequences because of it. [/quote]
