Depends on the school. At my school, of course you're not sitting in your seat in math physically wearing your backpack but the bag goes with you from class to class with your books and sits on the ground. So the thinking is -- active shooter/lockdown happens -- put your backpack on while you huddle in the corner. And the problem with corners is - common sense tells you to be in the 2 corners furthest from the door - except that puts you in direct line of sight of any nefarious actor. So maybe then you hide in the corner along the wall parallel to the door/hallway - except then if something gets thru the wall which is directly up against a hallway . . . .

Not a bad idea actually. Our high school actually doesn't have closets in the room - so there is literally no place to stuff people and make them hidden. The last time we had closets was in elementary where everyone had a hook/mailbox kind of thing in a huge closet with doors so you could definitely put 20 kids in there and shut the doors and it would look like no one was in the room.
