I think she makes a compelling argument about misleading conclusions here: "And this is a problem. What we know about mass shootings suggests that they are different from the everyday deaths that happen at the end of a gun. The weapon is the same. So much else is different. And the distorted image we get by using one as a lens through which to view the other has consequences for our understanding of the problem and the policies that might address it." https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/mass-shootings-are-a-bad-way-to-understand-gun-violence/
That article is a good one. I'm a person deeply upset by this and as i have posted here in the past. Then do something about THESE problems. Provide ANY solution, ANY legislation, ANTYHING. Literally anything. We will happilly try ANYTHING. Let us study the problem, fund the CDC to look at it, fund programs to address the root causes. Everyone thinks the left wants to take away all the guns. WE JUST WANT TO TO SOMETHING [i]ABOUT THIS.
Conservative here who agrees that we need to do something. Even Trump said we need to do something. But, I disagree with your statement about the left not wanting to take away guns. All you need do is read that numerous threads here about the shooting in Florida and see there are plenty of liberals who would love to take away all guns and ammo.
Taking away assault weapons is not taking away all weapons. Why don’t you compromise and say, “ok we can purchase other types of guns but not assault rifles.”?! You must compromise!! 80% of Americans want a ban on assault weapons. 3 out of 4 Americans don’t even own 1 gun.
I am all for banning assault weapons. But, this is not what I am talking about. The number of people here who want to totally overturn the 2nd amendment is astounding..... and confiscate guns. Read the original thread on “Another school shooting.”
I don't think the number is "astounding". It think it is a very small minority of posters, who are probably an even smaller fraction of the electorate.
Exactly! Also posting an opinion on DCUM doesn’t mean it is easy to enact legislation, right?! People here do not represent anything more than opinionated liberals who post to DCUM. Just like some of the conservatives who post here, do not represent my conservative friends or conservatives in general.
