This is helpful, thanks.  When you say 3.8, I assume you mean unweighted?  
DS has Crohn's Disease and had a partial bowel resection surgery last year which probably adds some context to the grades.  [b]How or at what point in the application process does one have the opportunity to discuss these things?  [/b]

W&M has a specific area on their application to explain something like this (my DD used it to explain her lower grades the year I had cancer - she's a happy W&M junior now).
