If you felt better not eating for 36 hours, you’re probably eating stuff that is caudpsing you inflammation on the regular. Maybe try cutting out dairy, wheat, sugar....
Probably, that was one of the reasons I tried fasting, it is supposed to help with health issues, not because I don't enjoy food. I do, too much, in fact. But, I had bad Lyme disease for a few years, and even since I was cured, nothing seems to truly help with remaining issues, but this helped. This was the longest I've ever done it, I've done a few 16-8, and this had pretty fast impact for the better.
I'm like you, OP. When I fast, I start feeling so much better, and not hungry at all. I can go for days, and don't feel tired or grumpy. I get more energy and my aches and pains magically fade. I have chronic inflammation issues, autoimmune issues, and many foods have a strongly inflammatory effect on me. So yes, we don't need as much food as we tend to eat, and certain foods can make us feel worse overall. If you read up on inflammatory types of foods, and work on changing what you eat, you'll probably find you do well. It is hard in our culture, so full of excess and junky food.
