16 years old son is 5"10' and 145lbs. He works out 90 minutes everyday after school with a personal trainer @Sports and Health. On weekends, he works out 2.5 hours on both Sat. and Sunday with another personal trainer. He is trying to play both varsity tennis and soccer this Spring season. I took him to see the doctor for a physical checkup and everything came back fine. One of the personal trainers suggested to me that if he can put on an additional 10lbs and keep working out like this in the next 8 weeks, he will be a beast come time for tryouts. Currently, he has a very healthy diet with lot of some brown rice, eggs, chicken, fish, tofu and an unbelievable amount of fruit and vegetable. No fried food in the house because my wife is vegetarian so she eats lot of fruit and vegetable as well. He also drinks about 40oz of milk everyday with some cheese. Oh, he also takes vitamin C, D and B12 supplements as well. The trainer suggested that he should add protein power to the milk and that will help him gain weigh but I am skeptical about these protein power products. I personally think it will do the kid more harm than good in the long run. What is your suggestion of gaining 10lbs in a healthy way? Eat more and exercise the same amount?
