Just punching up Steams numbers for CS Go and there were, at that minute, just over 475,000 people currently playing the game.  It would not be surprising to see high school and college teams in the next few years.

I do think gaming has made my two youngest, 16 and 19, more tech savvy.  They both "built" there computers with gaming in mind.  They have several game systems which get used when friends come over but rarely otherwise.  Somewhat surprisingly the 19 year old says there is not a ton of playing in his dorm.  To much other stuff to do.
