When I wear makeup, I also use Eucerin Redness Relief Daily Perfecting Lotion SPF15.  It goes on green so it helps to neutralize the 'redness'. If you haven't used oil free products before, it'll feel weird and 'not normal'.  You'll get used to it.   If you go to someplace like Ulta or Sephora, you can also get base makeup to help neutralize the redness.  I use cream colored eyeliner to minimize/cover the redness of my eyelids.
