When I was looking several years ago, MetLife was the only one that didn't have a waiting period for orthodontia. My kid is going on year 4 and two rounds of oral surgery, and the coverage has been great.
I did the research a couple years. Ago. The MetLife high option was the best, by far. Also the most expensive. By far. You are paying a premium for the orthodontia coverage. They pay 50%, up to $3500 for orthodontia. So they will over up to $7000, per kid, as the lifetime max. My kids are 2 years apart, and. Got braces year apart. DS got braces in 1/2016, and we are done paying for them. DD got them in 2/2017. We finish paying in mid 2018. But I loaded up the flex spending account, and am paying the balance next month, so I don’t have to carry the super expensive coverage in 2018. So also look at whethe4 it makes sense to pay up front and not carry the coverage for 1 year. Or pay each month and carry it longer. And remember you can use a flesh spending account for braces.
