But most kids who end up at so-called lower ivies/elites were striving for HYPS(M). Of course there are students like your DC for whom the school is genuinely their top choice. Jealousy is a natural reaction at first for the former group of kids and their parents but it goes away pretty quickly for most. Still there is an ever so slight inferiority complex lurking around with respect to HYPSM. It just stems from the hypercompeititve nature of most of the ivy-bound kids. There is even a small inferiority complex amongst Yale students with regards to Harvard. [/quote]
