No.  It's not "people trying to scam..."

My child mentioned that she might be interested in Japanese.  I know it is not offered at our current HS or the other two that are closest to us.  I know that it is offered in one of the Alexandria HSs -- which would be very far for us and I'm certain there is no bus there.  However, if there was a link like they used to have, I would be able to tell how far it is to the nearest school that offers Japanese without digging through 8 or more HS websites trying to find their curriculum sign up sheets.  That's not scamming.  That's trying to find out where world languages are offered.  FWIW, we are already zoned for one of the top HS in the county.  Transferring to another school for a language or academy class would be seen as a step down, not a step up, unless it was one of about two other HSs.  [/quote]
