How old are you now? Did your parents follow the Bill Gothard sect like the Duggars do? Did you attend an actual church (if so, what denomination? And were there a lot of other big families there or did you guys stick out?), or did your family do a "home church?" Did you do all the other Duggar-like stuff like no dating, kissing, college discouraged, home school, etc.?
I lucked out. My parents truly thought my sisters and I would get married about 18-20 and have kids but at the same time, my father was an intellectual who spent most of his free time studying Biblical literature and similar. He always encouraged us to read. I told them I really wanted to go to college and they agreed to let me go to be a nurse. My parents ended up leaving the 'group' when I was right near the end of high school. They tried to have their own group for a few years with other families that had left at the same time (there was a bit of a split in the group) as they still believed most of it and had only left due to a couple specific difference. However once 'out', we (the kids) all went our own ways. My sister and I both went to grad school! Most of my cousins only have high school if that. You could 'date' in groups at church events. The church has no name, it was a gathering of people with similar beliefs. Kissing (not making out) was okay right before marriage after you were engaged.
