Just prepare for a couple of things. DC has the most expensive childcare in the country. Also, the bigger corporate daycare centers often have a one year wait list. In home day care in VA is notoriously unregulated (as in there seems to. E a child death every year). A lot of people in DC use nanny shares. Once your child turns three they are eligible for free all day preschool if you live in DC
Don't scare the poor woman with this nonsense. Plenty of people find and use licensed in-home daycares in Virginia. They have state inspections about twice per year and all of the results are posted online. We loved our in-home care provider who gave our child a lot more snuggles than our second child got at the corporate center as a baby.
+1
And yet every year there is another incident in the news about how poorly regulated on home centers are in VA and there is at least one death for the last several years. In home centers have no checks and balances, you have no idea who might end up staying there or passing through. At least in my home I know who lives there, if its safe etc. Either go corporate or nanny share.
Eh, you do you. I trust a person who has their home, business, and reputation on the line to provide good, reliable service; Not someone who earns barely enough to scrape by in a center and transfers centers every year or two. If you think there are no issues with nannies or centers, you're really kidding yourself. But good for you for making a choice that somehow makes you feel superior to others who think differently.
