Good observations.  I have also known families with students at both schools.  The competition is just much steeper in Montgomery County.  I used to live in Prince George's County, and if I still lived there, I would gladly send my child to Eleanor Roosevelt.  I didn't even have DC try to get into Blair, because I knew that DC wasn't up to that caliber of competition.  [/quote]

I would wager the competition has more to do with the number of type A parents, higher SES ratio and the dichotomy of MoCo schools with the have and have nots leaving some families desperate for opt outs or ins in this case.[/quote]
