DD is in Larson, Harris, Seyler IBET and according to upperclassmen she should run for the hill! Any input?
PP from above whose kid had DelCerro IBET last year. Seyer was the Design Tech teacher in that IBET. Does not teach, and definately does not grade the assignments. 3rd quarter, he entered zeros in for 3 of DCs labs, and a C- as the quarter grade. DC emailed and asked why, and he said that grades were due, and he hadn't graded the labs yet, so zeros were "placeholders". The grade was not corrected until after school let out 4th quarter. And the robot project (which you will come to hate 4th quarter) was a clusterf**k. So, it's a bad teacher in DT. But a new IBET configuration (last year was DelCerro and Lago with Seyler). Don't know much about the other 2. Getting good Bio and English teachers are a lot more important in the long run. Good luck!
I'd be conferencing with the principal on this issue. At my DDs school, teachers are required to input grades within 2 weeks of the due date.
BTDT. Although under the advocacy guidelines, it is counselor then AP. Nothing changed, and the admin shrugged. And they are not interested in hearing from parents. At TJ, it's on the kids. We got nowhere. Maybe the new principal will be better. But there are already concerns about her. She's been in the school since July. Kids have been there for summer school, then sports and band practice, etc. and no one has seen her. Parents are starting to get upset that she hasn't stopped by some of the band and sports practices, parents meeting, etc to introduce herself, didn't stop in during summer school lunch and say hello, etc. nothing fancy-- just walking around the school and saying hello to the kids already there. And a lot of kids are there everyday now for various things. Anyway, parents are pretty upset that she isn't visible. I don't know any kid who has met her. I hope she is more involved. TJ needs a hands on admin.
