We stayed three nights in that area.  The first full day in the area, we did two hikes in Zion National Park.  The next day, we hiked in Bryce Canyon (which, as an aside, is one of my favorite places on earth).  The following day, we drove to Sedona Arizona where we spent two nights.  During the full day, we did a red rock jeep trip.  It was the only thing my 1.5 year old didn't tolerate so well.  It's very bumpy and she was absolutely miserable but even at miserable she is good natured enough that the rest of us had fun.  After that, we did some shopping (where I got a beautiful pair of earrings).  The next day, we hung around Sedona for the day and then drove back to a hotel near the Phoenix airport to spend the night because we left early in the day.

One thing I will caution you about is that it was difficult for me to find hotels that allow three kids in a room.  Given the ages of my kids, I can't see doubling the cost of lodging by getting two rooms.

If you are interested, post again and I will look up the hotels where I stayed.  All hotels had pools.  [/quote]
