Vet here. The gel in diapers is non-toxic and the PPs are correct that eating poo is a non-issue. But, if your dog ingested large enough pieces of the diaper or enough of the gel crystals, that could cause a foreign body obstruction and necessitate surgery (or removal via endoscopy if possible). If your dog is doing okay, then feed him a couple pieces of whole wheat bread (more fiber than white) every 4-6 hours. Take him for walks and see if you can get him pooping. If he starts vomiting, won't eat, has bloody diarrhea, is really straining to defecate, or becomes very lethargic, painful (hunching up, whining, crying, reluctant to move, etc), then take him to the vet. If you're in MD, MEAC is the emergency clinic in Rockville and there is an excellent ER up in Gaithersburg as well at VRA. Good luck!
i think its great that a vet did answer ..sometimes we need help , and cant take our pet to the vet at that time of illness or injury..get online to try to find out something cause you are worried sick. and you have to pay for answers...i have a yorkie that is 5lbs and 18 months old that im worried sick about..she ate the poop and gel out of a diaper and now now membane looking bloody mucus is mixed in with poop..i cant afford to take her to a vet right now..just moved and have newborn baby in the house...i dont know what to do...any help is appreciated..
You need to take her to a vet anyway and figure out a payment plan after the fact. Otherwise, she's suffering needlessly. Just go.
