Seattle has a fantastic zoo, and a good aquarium although it's not as big as Baltimore's - given a choice I'd do the zoo there instead of the aquarium. Lots of large natural-looking habitats, really interesting animals. The base of the Space Needle has some great playground areas and run-around space. Go see the troll under the Ballard bridge. It makes for cute pictures with a baby, even if (s)he is far too young to get it.
The Woodland Park Zoo (Seattle) is nice and shady. Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium is in Tacoma, about 40 minutes from Seattle. If you're feeling adventurous, one of you can swim with sharks! Space Needle is touristy, but it was kinda cool. If either one of you is interested in music, the Experience Music Project is very close to the Space Needle, and has a lot of cool hands-on exhibits.
Things are "touristy" because they are important to see - duh.
Not always. Sometimes they're overpriced, overblown, and a lot of aggravation for not that much fun.
