I don't think this is true.  At the end of 3rd grade for my now 6th grade DC, report card showed DC at a 5th grade reading level.[/quote]

That was 3+ years ago and U is just one level into 5th (in the top range) so I think this is plausible that it has changed or maybe you're thinking of another report which doesn't follow this rule. [/quote]
OK... but it is still more than 1 year ahead, and it was the end of year report card.

I think people are under the impression that just because school A and B does it one way, the whole of mcps must be doing it that way. Not true. For example, many have complained that their kids don't learn cursive or have spelling in ES, and others have stated that their ES does teach those things (our ES included).[/quote]

Our teacher held back the top readers so its a mute point on what reading level they are on as it wasn't an accurate reflection.  Our school did not do any cursive or handwriting nor spelling or grammar. [/quote]
