When I was around five, my parents got my brother and I a water bottle from Hermans Sporting Goods.  With a Sharpie my initials were written on mine and my brother's initials were written on his.  I had this water bottle (and ONLY this water bottle) until I went to college and tentatively suggested, "Maybe I could get a new one that fully closes?"

When I bought my daughter her THIRD water bottle in elementary school, I told her that she needed to keep better track of her things and I would never buy her any more.  She now buys herself one or two a year. Where the hell do they all go, and how come kids nowadays are not capable of keeping track of their things?
