Was going to mention this. This has been a complete game changer for us as well. If you change the pad at least weekly and scoop daily, the smell is really manageable. We sweep the small room where the box is once a day or so and that takes care of tracking.[/quote]

PP again. I replace the box once a year (wash it out completely every 4 weeks), just because plastic absorbs odor and the box really isn't very expensive. I just replaced it in May and they changed the design. The test with the grid is now a separate piece, much easier for washing. I have noticed the pads are FULL on Day 7, whereas with the old box they needed to be changed but could have gone an extra day if needed. I think the new shape of the tray is doing a better job funnelling pee out of the box. Thinking I may switch to changing the pad a bit more often. Also going to mention it to the vet and make sure it's not just my cat peeing more, but it coincided exactly with when I got the newest style box. [/quote]

Other Breeze fan here. I replace both of our boxes once a year as well but haven't seen the new design yet. So it's now 4 pieces (rim, tray, frame and grid)? I haven't been in charge of cleaning ours since last fall because I'm pregnant. DH has been okay about changing things but not as diligent as I would have been. When I'm responsible for it, I basically change the pad every 4-5 days because I find that that's a better cycle for our cats. I think t depends on how many cats and how many boxes you have as well as the cats themselves. We have one old boy cat who pees a lot more than the other two for reasons that are apparently not medical, so if he is interested in one box more than the other, that one gets yucky faster.
