Even if some of them are retiring, moving, etc. that is a HUGE number. That is clearly a workplace culture issue. I keep seeing comments about teacher turnover on VA Public School threads. It's unfortunate that this is a widespread problem at so many local schools.
Wait, so you're just taking the word of an anonymous poster that 18 teachers at one school are resigning??? And then you somehow know it's a "widespread problem at so many local schools. " There are 200 schools in FCPS. Where else is this happening that a third of the teaching staff is resigning or leaving? In no way do I support abusive administrators or poor working conditions. But I also don't support a complete lack of critical thinking skills.
This is happening in so many schools and it's driven by micromanaging of administration or just down right harassment. There is very little accountability for staff retention for principals. Some principals want new teachers, cause they are cheap, meaning they earn less. They push out experienced teachers, because they cost more, they earn more. Then they do these "anonymous" survies.... Teachers are afraid to voice concerns for fear of being targeted. Even when they do voice concerns, nothing happens to abusive principals.
