I'm a grown up who was medicated as a child. I personally think it was criminal that I was medicated - frankly I think it was the turmoil in my house that made it difficult to concentrate not a medical issue. But they diagnosed me with ADHD and as a result, I can barely remember my childhood at all. My memories only really begin when I quit taking it as a young adult. Funny, it's supposed to be genetic but my kids concentrate just fine.
My husband feels the exact same way. He said it completely altered his personality and feels that giving a child such strong stimulants on a daily basis is very wrong; he really resents his parents for it
Wow - we all have anecdotes up the ass. For me? I resent my parents for being SO afraid of any medication that I suffered all through my childhood and in my early 20s until I finally was able to take medication. To this day my parents gasp and get upset if I take an aspirin for a headache or midol for my period. They tell me to grit through it. So I PERSONALLY THINK IT WAS CRIMINAL THAT I WAS NOT MEDICATED. You're ridiculous to make such blanket statements.
