But not just for the kid, for the situation. There is a big difference between two kids hitting each after rough play gets out of hand and one bigger kid aggressively punching another kid to the point that blood is drawn or severe injury occurs. I have to imagine some of younger kids still hit out of frustration. And while there should be consequences, the consequences should include teaching the kid how to handle anger and aggression. Zero tolerance on anything is a horrible rule, as it can be taken to extreme. Kids need to be taught right from wrong, and sometimes to learn what is wrong, they need to make a mistake first.
