For waves, you'll need to head to VA Beach. If you can live without waves, there's a beach on the river in Yorktown that's pretty nice, but definitely not the busy boardwalk and ocean experience of Virginia Beach.
What's a realistic drive time to VA Beach from Williamsburg? What's the parking situation like?
Realistic drive time is 90 minutes with moderate traffic. Plenty of parking along the resort, some metered and some parking lots and garages.
These 90 minute and two hour people are crazy. It's an hour. When you head East on 64 in Hampton Roads just check the digital sign with tunnel delays. If HRBT is backed up take MMBT.
This. It's under an hour away. What are these other posters smoking. I have s house in the north end. And my grandparents lived in colonial Williamsburg. I've made that drive down 64 over a hundred times. It's totally easy. Use the waze app for directions but basically it's a straight shot down 64. Now when I drive to Virginia Beach from NOVA and we pass the ColonialWilliamsburg/ camp Peary exit and cheer with delight because we know it's just 45 minutes more.
