If it was Facebook keep in mind many kids lied about their birthdays so they could create an account before they were 13. FB makes it really hard to change your birth year do he probably just left the old one and thinks it's funny. The only online sources that I'd believe would references to him attending high school in a school newspaper from 10 years ago.
