We just went to a party like this, but there were a few other games that were big hits:

Kids split up into two teams, and the parents had set up a full set of clothes at one end (pants, shirt, scarf, hat, gloves) - it was a relay race to dress and undress (on top of their clothes, of course!)  The kids thought it was HILARIOUS.

For the gift giving, they did a version of spin the bottle.  Whomever the bottle landed on gave their gift to the birthday boy for opening.  This worked because there were only 7 guests.

Instead of balancing an egg on a spoon, the birthday mom made a carrier out of a paper plate and popsicle stick, and the kids carried a balloon in a relay.[/quote]
