I'd just be honest with them and say, here are the things we've tried and worked and here are the things we tried that did not work.  Unfortunately I am out of ideas at this point, but if you have any ideas I'd be happy to support you in any way I can.  In some ways its nice they reach out to you.  We get a oh, I know better than you and I can handle it (when they can't or I could tell them one thing to make it easier).[/quote]
