OP- you should ask friend's and family about visiting them if they have a nice friendly dog. When my kids were young they used to read to our dog and 2 of a relatives dogs. Our dog also went to school for show and tell and my DC demonstrated hand signal commands and some other children were shown commands and got to do it also.
