The main reasons off the top of my head would include, my son's personality - sensitive and slightly immature (not in a bad way) - he's a young 12 and doesn't completely fit in with a particular group at school - I encourage his individuality, he has plenty of friends so that's not an issue, will not speak up in a large class if he has a question, not a jock but athletic, just not a team sport guy and doesn't have a competitive bone in his body, doesn't do well with large loud classes and has difficulty focusing on your typical lecture type lesson - way better at hands on, a rule follower, gets good grades but not passionate about learning - it's a struggle but grades are good with minimal effort.

He's in 7th grade now so we realize this isn't the best timing but would like to learn from others who made the switch. My husband and I both went to public schools.
Why did make the switch? 
When?  What school? and how do you feel about it - was it a good/bad decision and why? 
Any recommendations on schools?  Some schools are K-8 and a few K-12.  I would love any advice or wisdom you have for me.
