Working with no due credit ok?

This question is sort of about a political type of situation for kids working in groups. Not sure where to post but sharing here. My son is a volunteer in a organization and its local group that works for all service opportunities to help poor across the world. He joined because of the service interest and eventually got to experience how it can help build your character too. Usually the local group gets opportunities to serve and all contribute to it, some less some more. Recently he worked on a initiative independent and contributed 100% although others in his group knew about it they did not contribute any. He found, inquired and executed it. This was very well thanked by the recipients.
Now the question is the recipients want to publish a news on their site about how happy they are with the help. He has a choice to quote details on how it’s represented either on his name or his local group. Since he approached them on behalf of the organization he needs to give its name, but should he mention the entire local group name for the recognition? We are concerned if he gives only his name it would be quoted as self promoting, if he gives the local group name, it’s like giving undue credit for the peers who didn’t do any work. There are some folks who may not take easy if the site mentions only his name although he did the work, so we are caught up here. In general having an opportunity like this to have your name included in an article, would it matter for future? Should we just ignore and give the entire local group as the contributor for the news? |

| Did he do the work to help people or to get the accolades? My family and I volunteer a lot and one thing I find important is to never publicize it on social media—it takes away from the act of service if you feel the need to make yourself look better in the act. |

John Smith from ABC Group was a volunteer/contributor to our XYZ event/activity/group enrichment
They can say his name and affiliation as they illustrate what he did and about the program. It serves the purpose of identifying him and the organization he represents. |

Yup, I'd agree with Mickey Mouse above...
Michael, from X Group, did this, that and the other after noticing that there was a need for X. He was so happy to be able to provide A, B and C. |
