Until I started to shop for baby stuff, I thought I was a relatively intelligent woman. The choices are overwhelming. Which bottles are the best and eliminate or minimize the gas/other issues? I am going to try to breast feed, so i want to get a bottle that will make it easy to go back and forth between breastfeeding and bottle feeding. A friend recommended Playtex nurser :slow flow: nipple with plastic liners and others have recommended Dr. Browns? I want to buy these bottles this week since I am due a week from Friday! Thanks, ladies! ![]() |
I had Dr Browns for my DS 2 years ago. This was before all of the bad plastic issues.
I mostly nursed him but found all the pieces of the Dr. Browns to clean a bit of a pain. He was not a particularly gassy baby - not sure if that was his nature OR if it was b/c when he was bottle fed he was drinking from a Dr Browns bottle. |
I used NUK nipples with my 1st and playtex bottles, due to advice from lactation consultant. #1 was gassy, reflux, fussy. Due to these experiences with #1, I used Dr. Brown's for #2 (he never properly latched so I pumped BM for him), although a pain to clean, I used dishwasher daily to clean the Dr. Brown's bottles. |
Dr. Browns!! Get the wide mouth bottle for little breastfeeders. They are the best!

What kind of breast pump do you have? You may want to choose a bottle that will fit the pump. I had the Medela Pump in style, and used Medela bottles. No gas problems whatsoever, and there aren't as many parts as a Dr. Brown's bottle, and the are BPA free. Sorry to throw another variable in the mix, but I didn't know about that stuff when I was choosing bottles so I wasted a lot of money buying ones that we ended up giving away. Hope that helps! |
I second the Medela bottles. We also used Sassy Mam bottles, which are simple, cheap and BPA free. |
Dr. Brown narrow mouth work with any breast pumps! |
