I think it is time for an update. Love instagram-- who to follow for women, 40s age range, for style/fashion that isn't too trendy and not all about very expensive labels? I don't know what is in style anymore. What is a trend coming in, and what is on the way out. Help! |
I would start by following a few hashtags and then follow the accounts that pop up and appeal to you. Start with #styleover40. I would also suggest stuff like #capsulecloset or #shopyourcloset, because they tend to feature more realistic options for a regular person— clothes and outfit ideas that are practical, stylish but not overly trendy, and an emphasis on good quality but not necessarily label conscious.
You also might look for niche hashtags that apply to you. I follow a lot of accounts that buy pre-owner or vintage because that’s my preference. Depending on body type, you might checkout stuff aimed at #midsize women, which can be useful if you are not inspired by people who wear a size 0-2. I also know people would follow stuff like #frenchgirlstyle if that’s your thing (no judgment!). Also, have you tried Pinterest? It can be a really easy way to gather style inspiration. If you are revamping your style, I recommend signing up and just browsing to see what strikes you. You can search stuff like “striped tee outfits” or “how to style wide leg jeans” and get to a and tons of ideas, plus a way to organize them. |

Thank you for the ideas!!! |
@k8_smallthings is one of my favorites! |
I love themomedit. Lots of different posters with different ethnicities, ages and body shapes. Sometimes they have two people with different shaped bodies try on the same outfit.
I also love susirejano and sophifontanel but both are bone thin and I am not. I love their chic, euro styles though. Elarmarioviajero is from Spain and she is not size 0 so I like to see what she's wearing to get a realistic sense of what something would look on me. |
She’s under 40 but I love Taryn Truly. She is very real and talks a lot about positive body images, regardless of size. And a great sense of humor. |
I like Kat - doesmybumlook40 (instagram and blog, but she's more active on insta) |
If you like Susi Rejano (LOVE her style), you might also like Patrizia Casarini (https://www.instagram.com/patzhunter/?hl=en). |
