So I fell asleep on the couch, my 2 year old sleeping in her room and I realized the building shook for a second. The power was out and I hear a child screaming. I turn everything off, go to my dd's room, pick her up and decide she better stay with mommy tonight. As I put her in my bed, just outside my window I see what it seems to be an eletric box explosion.the building shakes and the power goes out again. I pick my dd againg and go to the living room, the place furthest from a window- the couch. I'm freaking out! I am afraid this whole thing is gonna catch on fire and we'll either burn or freeze to death! |
Deep breaths. Everything will be fine.
As far as freezing to death goes... lots of layers, blankets if you lose power/heat. If you're still really cold...go for lots of blankets and skin to skin contact- body heat |
our power is on, but our exhaust pipes were blocked. got on the roof and we cleared them, still no heat. so at least i'll have my farmville while I freeze to death. good luck OP. huddle up and stay warm. |
if you haven't already, close the bedroom doors to contain the heat in the living room. Close the curtains for an extra barrier between the cold. And if it really gets cold, pitch a tent in the living room.

Huh. I just saw some florescent green sort of light flashing outside, too. I couldn't tell if it was coming from my house or somewhere else. |
I just woke up really cold (thanks to a blanket hog) and decided to look outside to see how much snow was out there. While I was looking out I heard a pop and sizzle as the power line to the neighbor's house snapped and it is now laying in the street. It took me just ten minutes to get through to someone with Pepco and tell them about the live wires and that there are other wires that look ready to snap.
I don't know how long it will take Pepco to get here. I just hope they get here before the plow comes through again. |
