Is it rude to order in when someone comes over for dinner?

i have a friend in town who is coming over for dinner tonight and i haven't had a chance to get anything ready for dinner (anything good anyway, as i am limited). is it rude to order in? we're pretty good friends and she's flexible.

Are you kidding?? That's about the only way we can entertain these days, with two little ones. I would go for it and enjoy being able to visit with your friend without worrying about food prep.

go for it!!! sometimes i will do a "homemade" dessert -- like make your own ice cream sundaes! that may asuage your guilt!

I do it all the time. Most people love it, esp. if you live in the city with lots of good options.

My poor kids eat way too much take-out. But at least they're exposed to varied foods: Chinese, Thai, Indian, Ethiopian....!

Have fun!

Seriously! Go for it!

Lots of places have nice food that is just as good on your table as it would have been had you taken your visitors out. Enjoy your weekend

I'd be thrilled if someone I was visiting handed me some menus and said--you pick! Especially if they lived in a city as good as this one for restaurants. I'd consider you an excellent friend!

I totally think it's fine to order in!

If I'm visiting someone, it's not for the food, it's the company. I don't care where the food comes from.

Enjoy your evening.
