My hair is a disaster!

Anonymous
I haven't had my hair cut in 6 months and it looks horrible! I have never found a hairdresser that can tame my long, very coarse, unrult hair and I am tired of hopping around and paying way too much for somthing I am not thrilled with.

Can anyone recommend their stylist? I live in Rockville, but willing to travel to DC or Northern VA.

I have semi-curly, coarse hair. Most hair dressers blow it out and make it look like a big poofy bush. But the one salon that knows how to do a sleek blow out and cut on fuzzy hair is Hugo Salon in Kensington (across the street from Wheaton Plaza). I like Samantha there and just recently got my fuzzy hair cut into a sleek angled bob that I can blow out and straight-iron easily.

If you would consider cutting it, you might want to check out Ira Ludwick at Progressions in Rockville. He is excellent at going from long to short. In fact, when I decided that that's what I wanted to do, I researched the area and came up with his name. He makes me look so awesome that I just keep going back, even though it feels like a splurge every time. He owns the shop, and he's extremely talented. Every cut he does flatters (look -- I have cheekbones and big eyes now!), even though the cut may be slightly different each time. He is unable to repeat himself on my hair because it's an artistic endeavor each time. He's also very knowledgeable about the products, and likely has the perfect one for your hair. Even though I'm 50, my hair is shiny and healthy looking, and my mom's silver hair is also really shiny and healthy, even though she's in her mid-70s. I promise you I don't own a share of his shop, and he's not a friend. I'm just a fan because he makes me look so good.

Ian at Kibana salon in downtown silver spring is fabulous. He is very good at cutting long hair that has a mind of its own!

I'm not sure if you have curly hair... Elie at Elie Salon in Tyson's Corner Mall is excellent... but expensive.

I'd definitely recommend Ricardo from Tresses Salon in DC. He's very good about telling you what looks good on you and doing it well. http://www.tressessalondc.com/main.aspx

I love Hannah at Trim Salon in Adams Morgan, 202 462 6080. She has curly hair and knows how to deal with it very well. Good luck!
