Help decorating for dinner party

Anonymous
I am planning a dinner party, but my dinnerware is tired and I need help with pulling the dining room together for the event. Is this appropriate for a typical interior decorator or is there a more specific person/store that can provide specific service? I’m looking for someone to make suggestions as to what to use/what not to bring out, and then provide guidance as to what can fill the gaps.

How many people?

What’s on the menu?

When you say “tired” do you mean chipped, stained? Or something else.

It kind of depends also on how much $$ you want to drop. There are lots of very talented people but it’s not inexpensive to hire them to come to your house and help you.

Too bad we’re not friends because I LOVE doing that stuff.

Another option would be to spend the money on rentals.

A more traditional local option:
https://dcrental.com/

A less traditional local option:
https://www.somethingvintagerentals.com/

A start-up-y one that ships:
https://social-studies.com/

Remember though that these things are much more important than the plates:
-Good, very dim lighting. Multiple sources from multiple heights, all very dim
-comfortable seating
-full, accessible glasses
-the right utensils (eg easy to serve/cut/eat food)
-a lot of yummy food
-great wine
-good soundtrack
-flowers, plants or rando branches cut from your yard

Oh no sorry, social studies is just nyc. There is one that ships though. I forget what it’s called. Hmmm.

It's the off-season for wedding planners, so you might reach out to some to see if they are available. They plans all kinds of parties.

They will also know the party rental companies that would have table settings that would work for your scheme. There are A LOT of rental companies in the DMV.

Lots of places for people to sit and converse in large groups or smaller groups.

Keep the flow. Is it a sit down or a buffet. I like having different stations for appetizer, entrees and desserts, drinks etc.

Get a coat rack on wheels if you do not have space to hang coats.

Sure but just remember that whatever you would pay a plumber or an electrician, you’ll need to pay a planner at least that much, then you’ll need additional budget for rentals and florals to make using them worthwhile. Not saying it’s not worth it - there are few things I love more than a lavish party. Just don’t have any info on OP’s budget.
