DD's birthday party next week is at a gymnastics facility where I happen to know in advance that the person doing the party is going to be the franchise's owner. We've always tipped birthday party entertainers, but does one tip in this case when the person is the facility owner? I know one doesn't tip hair salon owners--is this analogous? Don't want to seem cheap, as DD is going to continue going to this place. ![]() |
We've always done it (when it's the owner) and have never been rebuffed. If the service is good, then definitely tip. But, it wouldn't be terribly tacky to do otherwise. Tipping can be tricky. |
No, of course not. |
As a former employee of a gymnastics facility where I ran birthday parties (I was NOT the owner), I can say that tips were appreciated but not at all expected. Totally made my week when I got one. (this was a long time ago though, and tipping has made a lot of inroads in the past 20 years) |
I am one of the owners of Jabberu and we do cultural birthday parties. I often work with a member of our staff to manage the party. I don't mind if my staff is tipped, but from my perspective, I wouldn't personally accept a tip and would much rather a customer share with their friends that they had a good experience working with us and their child and her friends enjoyed the party. For me, that would be much more valuable than a tip. |
