Options for friend who doesn’t want to be on dating sites due to her job

Anonymous
My friend is 46, newly divorced, great personality, and pretty, but heavy (maybe size 14/16). The divorce was amiable so she is ready to date. However, due to her job as a teacher, she doesn’t want to do a profile with photo on a dating site. What options does she have for meeting a lot of potential dates?

Use photos that obscure the face (side shots, sunglasses,e tc)

Also some sites let you specify that some photos are visible only to people you choose, so put up obscured photos for all, then release the full photos after chatting with someone.

Teachers are certainly well represented on dating sites. I assume they divorce more readily because the husband keeps disobeying instructions in the syllabus for the semester.

1) Would men still check out these obscured photo profiles initially? She wants to do full body shots so it is clear that she’s a larger size. She doesn’t want to be on a BBW site to avoid fetishists.
2) can you list some of these sites that allow this?

Lol!

So actually, her concern comes from what happened to another teacher we knew. That woman was “in a relationship” online with someone she met via a free site. Turned out it was two female students catfishing her. They did a reverse image search on Google to find her dating profiles.

Maybe try something like eharmony or the league where you aren't matched to a ton of people and only your matches can see your profile

Honestly, that's so cruel. If it were my DD and i knew, she wouldn't have internet access for months.

Great advice.

Both Match and OKC let you keep a private profile allowing you to view men's profiles without them being aware that you have stopped by. She could do this and send messages to the men she would like to talk to and offer to send photos if the first conversation(s) go well.

In this manner, she can shop without worrying about have her students post her profile to the world.

1) is a no go. If she’s not as visible as an average person, there’s presumably a reason. Head shot only = fat, something like that.

Even if the person is legit, the conversations are on a web server someplace. Like this one! But with photos.

I don’t think Russian hackers are the worry, but nosy or cruel students. Or their parents. A divorced dad who says “Hey, Larlo, is this that bitch who gave you a D in Geometry last year?”

Ah, feel free then to discuss your drug use or activities in bed. It’s private, just like that Ashley Madison account database and Jennifer Lawrence’s photos.

The point is, once the data is out there, it’s out there forever. Security is far from perfect, and employees of the company with the data have little incentive to care. Assume there’s no privacy.

What other options are there to widen a dating pool? I can’t help her date offline right now as I know zero single men that I would say would be a good partner.

Use OkCupid or Match to arrange a meeting in person. Be a grownup and post decent photos. Don’t write anything that will bite you.
