My DH loves tv shows like West world and Game of thrones. I've watched a few episodes and they are just too graphic and violent for me. I'm not really a fan. He thinks that I'm weird for not liking these shows. I would be interested in watching shows like The Crown, Handmaid's tale, etc... He's making me feel badly and he's right they are super popular with the masses. But I was trying to explain that I tried to watch and especially WW did nothing for me.
How do we compromise? |
You don't need to compromise on individual preferences. You do your thing, he does his. Surely there is more to your relationship than watching shows together. |
Seriously. |
I would be very concerned. HBO created Westworld to determine if the viewer was, in fact, a robot. People who do not like it or do not understand it are inhuman robots trying to pass as normal humans. Please turn yourself in at the Time Warner headquarters so that they can fix you. |
+1 you each watch 2hrs of tv a week on shows you like. This really shouldn’t be an issue in a relationship |
I literally cover my eyes. I enjoy the stories, but I refuse to see a head get chopped off or entrails spilling out of a body or an arrow through an eyeball. I have been doing this since I met DH. |
I loved the first season of WW, but the second has been too violent for me. It’s okay to opt out.
There are hundreds of thousands of cultural touchstones. We can’t indulge in them all, let alone expect to enjoy all of them. I never got HIMYM at all and think 3D movies are a waste of time. I can tolerate matcha but loathe poke bowls. |
I only cover my eyes when a character I like gets beheaded.
RIP Eddard Stark. Winter is Coming. |
DH watches TV, I sit beside him reading a book (usually ridiculous romance novels). We’re together. |
I love superhero shows, DH hates them. He likes watching political shows, I don't. So we watch those separately and find shows we both enjoy to watch together. |
Handmaids Tail is disgusting. I wouldn't watch it either |
I cover my eyes when there's nudity |
I cover my husband’s eyes when there’s nudity. Don’t want him getting any ideas. |
I think it's weird that you and your husband have to like the same shows. Why can't you each watch whatever you want? If you don't like something, then don't watch it. You're not in middle school anymore, you know. You are an actual adult. |
Man I love shows like that because I think they're more realistic. I wish hbo directed all shows. |
