I used to 6x a week - 3x spinning, 2x 30 day shred or some other short video at home, 1x gym - lift, elliptical, etc. But I found that working out a lot just made me more hungry. Trying a new routine of 4x a week working out, walk 30 mins 2 other days, and being more careful about what I eat. Hoping it's a good idea. |
My pre-baby workout schedule was A LOT different - but now that I have a toddler, I lift/strength train 3 times a week - usually do 20 minute full body circuits after warming up with a little cardio, then end with some yoga moves and stretches - so not a huge time commitment but it definitely kicks my ass.
I used to run but it's too hard now with work, so I walk as much as I can. I usually can do 30 minute brisk walks at lunch a few times a week during work, and a few 30 minute walks a week with the stroller. I also walk to the hill, etc. for meetings all the time so I can log in quite a bit by the end of the week. I'm excited because my gym is now offering a yoga class on the weekend I can actually get to, so can start incorporating that into my routine - it's not the 3x a week I used to do but better than nothing! |
6x a week. |
OP are you hungry before or after you workout, or just in general?
I teach 10-13 cardio classes a week. I find that I am not hungry after I work out, even if I was hungry before the workout. If I nibble on something before class I'm ok, and the hunger goes away as soon as my heart rate is up. I'm better able to control my appetite if I eat afterwards. |
Hi, op.
I work out every day for about 60 mins. Sometimes I work out twice a day. My Gym has a 60 min class called Body Pump which is a weights class with many reps, you could call it weights-cardio-ishy? On those days (2-3 times a week) I will also do an hour of cardio. By the way, Zumbamama, Im usually STARVING after I work out. I will try your suggestion.. |
At least 3xs per week and up to 6xs per week. Gym workout for 3 days. Outdoor walking for other 3. |
zero. i am a fatass. |
hilarious. my response was going to be along the same lines. I worked out this weekend at my gym, and my husband said, "Hey! Enjoy your annual 1,000 dollar workout!" (that would be the cost of my gym membership that I don't take advantage of. And I make it there once a year.) My husband is a damn riot. grrrllll. That said, he always gives me time to work out. I would just rather spend the hours away from work hanging with my scrappy little toddler. She runs constantly, and I chase. Indoor jogging? Works for me. |
I'm 6 months pregnant and at the gym 5-6x/week, running on the treadmill.
I've scaled down the intensity across my pregnancy but I'm hoping to continue until the end. Prior to getting pregnant I was at the gym same amount. |
Never.
I used to run 4-5 days a week pre-baby. ![]() Full-time job with demanding schedule, neighborhood that's not super-safe, and a husband who has no interest in physical activity (which translates to disgruntled provision of childcare should I wish to pursue anything). It actually pisses me off, despite an otherwise great relationship. |
When do working parents (mothers) work out? How is child care covered? I really want to know...
Maybe it takes getting up at 5 am. Ugh. |
I hope these results are seriously skewed! If I make it to the gym 3 times, I'm happy with myself. I go to a gym with childcare (for the pp). |
I don't get up at 5am, but I manage. I work from 8-4, and my husband does the day care drop off. I go to the gym after work for an hour and pick up the kids by 5:30p. I live only about 5 miles from my office and my gym and day care are even closer. |
I work out at lunch - 30 minutes of warm and circuit strength training 2x a week, and I fit in some walking on other days, or I walk to meetings (I work in downtown DC). On the three days of the week I don't work, I walk my toddler in the stroller around the neighborhood and walking trails, and I make it to the gym once on the weekend while DH is home. We also have a great set up in our basement for working out - a treadmill and a bunch of weight equipment, but the problem is I don't want to get up in the morning or do it at night during the week. I have to do it at lunch, and it definitely makes me more productive in the afternoon. |
I work out 6 days a week, generally. I either run for about an hour, or I do 20-25 minutes of lifting plus 30 minutes on the arc trainer. Twice a week I run on my lunch hour- my boss is cool with it. I do one gym session, one longer run and a yoga class every weekend when my daughter's with her dad. The other weekend day I take my daughter to the gym with me for an hour - she likes the childcare people there. I also have a running stroller that we use if need be, and we also try to walk about 1 mile every day after work/daycare. And I walk to a farther metro stop at night for a little extra exercise.
This is less than I worked out before I was pregnant (and while I was pregnant), but my body is pretty comparable to what it was before. I do miss some of the stuff I used to do - I no longer have time for golf or volleyball or boxing/kickboxing or more frequent yoga classes. Oh well. |
