I'm totally copying someone's Las Vegas / Zion / Bryce spring break trip - I thought it was a great idea, so whoever you are, thank you for that!
We are a family of 5 (two adults, 3 kids). I know some people fly to Vegas and go straight to Zion that same day, but my group will need a little down time first. I booked 2 nights at Mandalay Bay on the front end of our trip. I think the kids would like the pool and aquarium there. Then, we are doing Zion and Bryce, and then we will drive back to Vegas to fly home. I want to drive back the day before our flight, so we will have one more night for where we will need lodging in Vegas. Should we stay at Mandalay Bay again? Or is there anywhere cheaper / easier for such a short time prior to going to the airport? I don't think we'll have all that much time to do anything so I care less about it being a fun place. Thanks for any ideas! (If relevant, I was in Vegas once years ago with my husband when he was on a business trip. We stayed at the Bellagio which I thought was awesome. I hung at the pool every day while he worked! Then at night we got dinners, saw shows, walked the strip. I personally really liked it.) |
Treasure Island is a fun place and they are always advertising good prices like $79 a night |
If you have a car, consider the Stratosphere. It's very inexpensive, perfectly acceptable in terms of amenities and cleanliness and you can go to the top for a fantastic view of the city at night.
BUT Do not walk around town near there, especially behind the hotel towards downtown. It's very sketch area. Stay in the hotel, then take the car other places. We've stayed there four times with young kids using this plan with no problems. |
I would just use Hotwire and pick 4 stars and see what pops up |
I would check out Ballys and Paris, and try to get a view of the Bellagio fountains. Those two are connected inside and outside, and are prime strip locations without being super $$$.
They are also near the Vegas High Roller, which your kids would probably enjoy since it does have a great view. |
Where are you staying at Zion/Bryce? |
Well I’m embarrassed to tell you because I’m literally taking this poster’s entire itinerary lol!!! BUT Flannigan’s Inn and the Lodge at Bryce Canyon. Fwiw I did look into other options and but those still looked good & in our price range! And then I really thought I might book somewhere different than that poster in Las Vegas but Mandalay Bay also seemed like cheapest but best for kids location I could find there too, lol. I also looked at four season & red rock. Thanks also for these ideas for the last night, everyone! I seriously like this travel board ![]() |
Might try the Delano - attached to Mandalay Bay but no casino or smoking in the lobby. Made me feel so much better about taking kid to Vegas to know that walking through our hotel, no smoke to deal with. Still have access to all the Mandalay Bay stuff (pool was great - loved the lazy river) but felt “cleaner”. There is a mono rail from Mandalay Bay to Luxor to Excalibur. Kid loved riding it and theming in hotel was appealing For kid. Just remember that things on the strip are super easy for adults but harder for kids - walking from hotel to hotel or waiting for a cab. I loved shows / pool / gambling in Vegas in my 20s but found Vegas with kids stressful. |
Hotels on the strip often carry a hefty daily "resort fee" which others do not. I stay a lot at the Marriott properties up by the Westgate and has way less taxes and fees than the strip properties. It's right off the monorail line which is a good deal for a daily pass if you pre-buy it on their website. The bus service in Vegas is really cheap and goes everywhere, too. If you want to spend a little more money, I loved Vdara which you can get discounted rates if you sign up for the MGM program called m-life. Oh, and take advantage of the Walgreens and CVS Pharmacy on the strip for bottled water, snacks, etc.. Saves a lot of money. |
Circus Circus. Why not do something memorable? |
Go off the strip-- you will find a much nicer pool and better prices |
Are there any off strip that you recommend? Thanks! |
Don't be. We may copy your itinerary. ![]() |
We are doing that trip next year and I just booked Mandalay Bay. FYI, the Delano has 2 room suites but is not close to the pools. But what I really wanted to tell you is that I called and "complained" that they were charging 40 bucks per kid per night. The very nice lady said to just book it for two guests and call back to just have them note that there will be children in the room, no extra charge. Just saved tons of money! (I booked 4 nights but we only plan on 2 or 3, will see how flights work out and then adjust the reservation). That tip plus signing up for the M club saved a lot!
We are booked at the lodges in Zion and Bryce. Also have 4 nighta booked at each until Southwest releases their flights! |
Thanks for the tip! Do you know how far in advance southwest releases their flights? |
