My husband and I are thinking of taking a baby-making hiatus for a while, and were considering the Paraguard IUC which has no hormones. We've done Natural Family Planning (mucous method) for several years, but need a little extra help, and are looking into the IUC. I'm looking for other families who've had this done to get an understanding whether it has lived up to its expectations.

I had it for 3 years between kids and never experienced a problem. First 2 periods were very heavy and then back to normal flow. Insertion was more uncomfortable than painful. Some strong cramps 10 minutes after and then light cramping for about 1 hour. Took some Advil and that took care of it.
Once we were ready to have more children I got out and got pregnant literally 3 days later. Good luck, |
I have had it since May. Insertion was uncomfortable, bordering on painful. Then I had cramps for a few days afterwards. I did worry that something was terribly wrong, that was how bad my cramping was. And I bled for 2 weeks after, but I think that may have been from how I timed my NuvaRing removal. The first couple of periods were much heavier and crampier (I am a person who normally has ZERO cramps so for me they were alarming). But now, I have my normal flow with no cramping. I love love love it. And because I have PCOS, I ddi not want hormones, so it is a perfect fit for me. |
