Tricycle for short kid

Anonymous
Can anyone recommend a brand of tricycle that would work for a short toddler? My 2-and-a-half year old is small (he still wears 18-month-old pants) and I want to get him a tricycle but I'm worried about him reaching the pedals. Thanks!

my 2 y.o. son is small, too. he's 33 inches. we got him a kettler trike. they have adjustable seats so he actually can put his feet on the pedals (he, so far, is choosing not to).

kettler's can be very pricey, but we just got him the "oceana"...it doesn't have fancy tires or the pedals that stay in place while we push, but i can't see spending over $200 on a trike! we read all the reviews and the oceana came out on top anyway. we bought it from amazon.

We had this same problem in finding a trike for my son, who was absolutely bike obsessed. We ultimately went with the Kettler (one of the slightly cheaper models where the pedals turn as the wheels turn - we had heard that was better for learning to ride and he did pick it up right away) after trying out a bunch and finding them just a little too big. My recommendation is to try as many as you can - it was really frustrating but I'm so glad that we found one that works.

We have the 3-in-1 Little Tikes Trike for our 20 month old. She loves it. For now, we just use the footrests and push her in it. When she's taller, we'll remove the footrests so she can use the pedals. The whole think is modular -- it grows with your kid -- and the weird looking sun shade thing on top comes off, too.

If you don't want to spend Kettler money, I'd suggest the Radio Flyer Fold 2 Go trike. It's very low to the ground, seat is adjustable and costs $50 (although they often go on sale for $40 at TRU). My son is tall for his age and he outgrew it when he was 3, so I'm thinking it may be small enough for your son? Good luck.
