Hi all - My 13 month old consistently goes down between 7-715. She used to wake around 6:30. She is now waking up between 5-530 for the past few days. The ped said not to be surprised if she wants to go to bed later since her sleep requirement is going down.
She still acts tired around 7 and goes down super easily but I'm wondering if I should push it back to 8 and she'd sleep later. Anyone with similar experience? |
My DD does this every time she is about to cut a tooth, like clockwork. My DS had zero reaction to teething so every kid is different but I would wait her out before you change bedtime. In my world that has never worked and often backfires. You could try 730 or so to start but 8 is pretty late for a lot of kids. Give her a week or two, she may just stop or change her pattern. Good luck, been there! |
I wouldn't change bed time. My DD, now almost 2, had weird phases like this where wake ups would randomly go an hour earlier. It was usually surrounded by getting a new tooth or learning a new skill. Try as hard as you can to leave her in the crib until a reasonable time (unless she is screaming her head off).
FWIW DD now is 7-7 really reliably and I am glad we never tried to push her later. |
Mine does this every few months. I set a wake up time (6:00 am, so not unreasonable) and don't go in before then. She always settles back to her normal (around 6:30 wake up) within a few days. |
By newly 3 and 1 year olds both go through phases of waking up early for a week or two. Our luck is that my 1 year old JUST finished one of these and my 3 year old seems to be sliding into on. Argh. |
I would not push bedtime back either. Wait it out for a few days and see if she goes back on her own. If it's become a solid pattern after 2 weeks, then think about adjusting routine.
But I've found my 1 year old sometimes wakes up early when he's actually tired. So my advice would be to push bedtime EARLIER and see if that helps force the correction. I'd just move it up by 15 minutes and see what happens. |
time change?
