Everything I have read says that to forestall nausea you need to eat all the time so your stomach doesn't get empty, etc. Well, while I'm still queasy when it's empty, it's FAR worse right after I eat. So often I have this weird combo feeling of hungry and nauseated at the same time. Any thoughts? I'm 6 weeks, btw, with my second. My first wasn't like this at ALL. Thanks again. |
That's how it was for me, too. I felt kind of sick before eating, and then a little sicker afterwards, esp. in the evening. I ate a lot (but in small portions) of bland, bready food -- and for some reason, cottage cheese also didn't make me feel bad. |
OP Here: thanks, PP, for your reply. I think we're some of the only ones! Can I ask, how long did it last for you? |
This happened for me, as well.
It lasted until about the second tri...12/13 weeks... Hang in there... |
I also was nauseous and hungry at the same time. If my stomach was empty, nauseous. If I ate too much, nauseous. And too much at once wasn't really that much. I'd also get nauseous if I ate too fast. I never vomited, I just felt nauseous a lot. Mine lasted from week 5 until week 12. Weeks 8, 9, and 10 were the worst for me, but by week 11 it had really tapered off. During week 12 the nausea stopped. I'm 18 weeks now, and don't feel bad at all. |
I'm at 18 weeks and the nausea hits me now and then. I get the same thing--really hungry but feel sick after I eat. I'm not sure if it's a pregnancy thing or if I caught one of the nasty bugs going around. |
13:56 responder (1st responder) here: It lasted on and off for about 3 weeks, so not too long! I hope it's short like that, for you. Ever since then, I've been totally fine |
I too had the same issue until abtou 14 weeks. Or I would feel so disgustingly full very quickly. I found eating small amounts of bland food or anything that sounded good to me. I had to avoid salad, lettuce, and other "hard to digest" foods. I found Stacey's plain pita chips and Cheez-its to be life savers- I literally would have like 4 or 5 crackers and feel okay. If I had too much at all it was the worst, most miserable feeling. I still get a crampy, gas-y pain now if I eat too much, but the nausea was worse. Hang in there, I'm sure it will get better. |
Having a carbonated drink really helped me with my nausea. I drank a lot of club-soda and sometimes ginger ale.
Hope you feel better soon! Good luck! |
I was in the same boat, except throwing up a lot, too. One (strange) thing that helped was that I would eat a few sour patch kids after eating a meal. Something about the sour-ness really helped. I read it on a forum during my first pregnancy and figured why not give it a try.
Hang in there. I know it really sucks. ![]() |
I feel your pain! I had the exact same problem and mine lasted for all of the 1st trimester and a little into the 2nd. I tried eating crackers and while it kept the nausea at bay, I would still be hungry. For me, I was able to eat cereal. I would suggest just trying different foods to see which ones will get rid of the nausea and combat the hunger pains at the same time. The other thing that my doctor suggested was to take Vitamin B-6 pills and that seemed to help immensely. |
