Birthday party for 13 year old?

Anonymous
Her birthday is at the end of September, and we were going to do an escape room 2nd week of October, but the two near us are all booked up. It would be 9 kids total. Any suggestions?

13 is difficult, especially for a group that size. We were going to do a movie but there is nothing playing anyone wants to see. DS chose a trampoline park and then the kids are coming to our house for pizza. But maybe that is not a party girls would enjoy.

Mains/Pedis and a sleepover?

Last year, (12) we took my DS's friends out for burgers at an Irish place in Falls Church.
They made us a menu of foods in my budget and we took them out to lunch.

He has asked to do this again.

We also started the party before the lunch rush and they had sodas and looked at their phones. Moms had an impromptu happy hour in the other room while I supervised the kids from the next booth with my husband.

Just had a party for an 11 year old today. Surprise party, her friends came over and decorated. Then we had a s'mores bar in the backyard (with sterno "campfire,") and low-key backyard games. (tag, tug of war, balloon games. etc.)

If I had been feeling more ambitious, I would have done a cell phone scavenger hunt. Phoning it in, as it were.
