Does your stylist gossip too much?

Anonymous
I stopped going to my favorite hairstylist because I couldn't take the gossiping. Does your stylist gossip?
Anonymous
They all do. A lot of clients love it.

That is why I generally go to stylist when I am traveling for work. Never will see or hear from them again.

Never. I bounce around, though, so I very rarely have the same person twice.

Whenever someone brings up gossip I don't want to hear, I usually just say, "Oh, I don't know about that." And just change the subject.

Do you and your stylist have mutual friends? I can't see how hearing gossip about people you don't know would matter.

Yes, I stopped going to a salon b/c i felt that they were nasty gossips. It was very mean-spirited.
Anonymous
No, but I bring a book.

Are you talking about gossip about other clients/employees? Or gossip about current events and celebrities?

I too am very puzzled by what is meant by gossip in this context.

I switch stylists fairly regularly and not noticed any being particularly gossipy. Like, usually I interpret gossip to mean talking about mutual acquaintances while they are not present; however, I never have any shared friends or acquaintances with my stylist.

I've been seeing the same woman for 3 years and no, she doesn't gossip. If she did I wouldn't go back.

Do you go to PR Partners in Rockville. The worst for gossip!

Its funny because I have hair stylists in my family who lament the constant gossip/ complaining of their clients- they all say they could do their jobs 24 hours a day if the clients would just not talk!

I dislike stylists who talk too much, so gossip is included too.

What does your stylist gossip about? Do you know people in common? I usually just ask my stylist what her kids are up to and what their next travel adventure is.

My stylist gossips too but not that much so she could focus on what she's doing while talking some stories about celebrities. I think they do it to make their customers comfortable with them and it's ok with me.

What do you consider gossip? If you don't know the same people, how is it gossip? Maybe they're just sharing part of their lives with you?
